When Solid Gospel Radio's Jim Black asked me to help raise some money through a share-a-thon for Food For The Hungry, I was happy to be of service. He shared with me that day what Food For The Hungry was trying to accomplish. I in turn was moved and wanted to sponsor a child. God knew what He was doing. He made sure that my sponsored child was the same age as my own daughter, who was six at the time. Ruqia Waqo Gedho from Kenya was "my" new child (pictured to the right). Through the many years since, I have been blessed with updates on how she had gotten medical care, schooling and bible teaching from the work that Food For The Hungry has provided in her villiage. Then a few years ago, Ruqia sent a letter saying she had accepted Christ as her Savior. I was overwhealmed! A little girl half way around the world found Jesus, partly because I committed about a dollar a day to hopefully help her. I would encourage everyone to consider sponsoring a child through Food For The Hungry. They are a reputable, accountable, Christ centered child development program. Not only will you hear progress reports from the children, you will also get photos and opportunities to provide birthday, Christmas, back to school and other seasonal gifts. Click on the link for more information, then please, sponsor a child today. I promise, you will never regret it!
